May 20th 2008 - Golf Tip:
Swing path and how the club approaches the ball through the impact may be the single most important fundamental in the golf swing. Here are two drills to insure a proper inside to out swing path.
1. Imagine dividing the golf ball into quadrants and attempt to make contact with the inside, right quadrant of the golf ball. Approaching the golf ball from the inside and not “Over the Top” will promote a shallow, inside to out swing path.
2. The “Clock Drill” is another visual image that develops a proper swing path. If twelve o’ clock is pointing down the fairway and six o’ clock is pointing behind the golfer, a right-handed player should swing from seven o’ clock to one o’ clock. Swinging along the line from seven to one o’ clock creates the proper swing path and insures a powerful release.
