Article by: Ted Czech Ron Jaworski and a York business owner say they have big plans for Honey Run. A local business owner and an ex-NFL quarterback have bought a West Manchester Township golf course. York native Kenneth Kochenour and former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Ron "Jaws" Jaworski have been friends and business partners for years, Honey Run Golf Country Club General Manager Carol Russell said. Kochenour owned Honey Run for several years in the mid-1990's, then sold it. He and Jaworski bought it Monday, although Russell was unsure of the course's sale price. "Over the years Honey Run has held a special place in his heart," a Honey Run news release said of Kochenour. "He remembers playing the course as a young man and looks forward to improving a great course." Russell said those improvements include interior clubhouse renovation of the clubhouse, purchasing state-of-the-art grounds-keeping equipment and installing drainage systems into the course's sand traps. Jaworski who is on Monday Night Football, and Kochenour, founder and owner of GF Management LLC, own six other golf courses on the East Coast and in the Mid-Atlantic. Honey Run, on South Salem Church road is a 6,797 yard, par 72 course with water coming into play on eight holes and the Honey Run Creek winding through the grounds. In the past, it has hosted the Nike tour and the LPGA Futures. Russell said Friday she is looking forward to a great 2008. "Honey Run is a great course-it has a fabulous layout," she said. "Golfers of all skill levels will enjoy the course." |
